Lancashire versus Cumbria at Formby Ladies Golf Club
We arrived at Formby Ladies Golf Club to a warm welcome from Captain Clare Seddon and her team, many of whom were already golfing friends of our team.
Eight ladies played the practice round and came to terms with the heather and undulating greens. The course was in great condition and the weather was very warm and sunny.
We arrived at Formby Ladies on the day of the match for an early start with teams being announced at 0900 in readiness for the first tee at 0930. It was a lovely day and everyone was in good spirits. The Cumbria team was Brenda Ewbank, Nic Tebbutt. Kathryn Bulman, Janette Mc Whirter, Margaret Shepherd, Rosie Waller and Sue Cotter. Aly caddied for Janette and Rose caddied for Rosie.
The matches were very closely fought on the front nine but Lancashire found another gear for the back nine and despite Cumbria being up in some matches Lancashire turned the tables and won the match 5:2. Margaret and Janette managed to halve their matches and Sue gave us all a nail biting finish to win her match 1 up!
After the match we had a lovely meal and Lancashire Captain Clare announced that three of the Lancashire team had been selected to represent the North at the Jamboree.
Well done to everyone and thank you always playing with a smile. We shall now look forward to our next match which is against Durham at Brampton Golf Club on 13th July.
